Miscue helps Stingers down Honkers

WILLMAR - Matt Rudick figured into the go-ahead and insurance runs as the Willmar Stingers won their fourth-straight game with a 4-2 victory over Rochester on Tuesday at Bill Taunton Stadium.

With the game tied 2-2 in the seventh, Rudick and Tyler Reichenborn both walked. With two outs, Eric Yang reached on a dropped third strike and Rudick scored on a Rochester error.

In the eighth, with Jaxon Hallmark on with a walk, Rudick doubled to drive in Hallmark.

Noah Fluman worked two innings in relief, striking out three. Trevor Divinski started and allowed an earned run on six hits in six innings. Ben Mora struck out the side in the ninth for the save.

Rudick had three hits and also scored a run, Reichenborn had two hits and Hallmark doubled and scored twice.

The Stingers and Honkers play the second game of a two-game set at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday at Taunton.

Willmar held an 8-4 advantage but committed six errors in a difficult day at the yard.

Ashton Gregory paced Post 1639 with a pair of hits, including a double, RBI and two runs scored.

Luke Barkeim helped out Starbuck with a hit and two runs scored.

Montevideo scored five runs to top Kerkhoven in a close match Tuesday night in Montevideo.

John VanRavenswaay led Montevideo with three hits and scored twice, joining teammate Blaine Sederstrom with a multi-hit game.
