Willmar Legion walks-off against Litchfield

DATELINE - Andy Schultz delivered a ninth-inning walk-off knock up the middle to guide Willmar Legion Post 167 past Litchfield 4-3 Friday night at Bill Taunton Stadium.

Kaden Kessler-Gross started the game for Post 167, allowing just two runs in five innings of work before giving way to Drey Dirksen who pitched the game's final four innings to earn the win. He struck out six batters and allowed just one hit.

Caleb Owens scored the winning run and finished the night with a pair of runs and a double. Schultz was the game's hero with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate and two RBIs.

The Willmar Stingers completed a comeback with an eighth-inning Davis Elliot RBI single to top Eau Claire Friday night, scoring Eli Wilson. Wilson scored twice on the evening and finished the game 2-for-4.

Caleb Ricca added a pair of runs with a two-run home run in the third inning as part of his big day at the plate.

Jayson Newman provided a strong relief outing for the Stingers, allowing just one hit in 3-1/3 innings pitched with five strikeouts as he went on to earn the win.

Regal spoiled a stellar start from Starbuck's Austin Versteeg Friday night, scratching one run across in the seventh inning off an RBI single by Jordan Wosmek.

Versteeg pitched seven innings, striking out 10 in the process with just five hits allowed. Wosmek drove in the inning run and was equally strong in his start on the mound, earning the win with six scoreless innings before ceding to Shane Rademacher who closed the door with three hitless innings.
