WILLMAR — Social media rumors led to some concern Thursday morning at Willmar Senior High School, but no actual threats at the school.

According to a note the school district sent to parents, vague rumors focused on Willmar Senior High, but the school did not find the origin of the rumors.

"There is no known threat at the high school," the note said. "There has not been a threat to the high school. There is no evidence of anything happening other than people posting on social media that they 'heard' something was going to happen."

Superintendent Jeff Holm said in a telephone interview that the district always takes rumors seriously. However, Principal Paul Schmitz and school resource officer Gene Schneider were able to determine quickly that there was no real threat.

There was no lockdown, and classes continued without interruption, Holm said.

Holm said he spent time at the school Thursday morning, too, and "it was looking like a normal school day."
