New home for Co-op Credit Union in the works

Shelby Lindrud / Tribune Construction is expected to begin soon on the new Co-op Credit Union at Fifth Street and 19th Avenue Southeast in Willmar. The financial institution is moving out of Cub Foods and into its own building.

WILLMAR — Co-op Credit Union is hoping to have its new home completed by spring 2019, as space is getting tight at its current location inside Willmar's Cub Foods.

The Willmar Planning Commission approved the plan review for the new project in June and construction equipment is now at the site located at the corner of Fifth Street and 19th Avenue Southeast. Construction is slated to begin soon, with completion planned in early 2019.

According to the minutes of the Planning Commission review from June 20, the full service credit union will be a brick facade building with a three-lane drive-up, a drive-up window, 28 parking spaces and it will house four to five employees. The credit union will be accessed from both Fifth Street and 19th Avenue.
