Construction for a new retail development is underway Friday on the former Dairy Queen lot at First Street and Willmar Avenue Southeast in Willmar. The owner said the location is one of the best intersections in the county.

The Herberger's store in Willmar will close at the end of business on Wednesday. The closure follows an announcement in April that the parent company, Bon-Ton, was being liquidated. The action triggered the closure of all of the Herberger's and Yonker's stores in Minnesota.
