Granite Falls Health, Carris Health finalize clinic sale
GRANITE FALLS — Plans have been finalized for the sale of the Carris Health Clinic in Granite Falls to Granite Falls Health.
Through an agreement effective July 1, the Carris Health Clinic, formerly ACMC-Granite Falls, will become part of Granite Falls Health.
Tom Kooiman, Granite Falls Health CEO, said the agreement will bring together the skills and talents of both groups.
"We are convinced that the best way to fulfill our responsibility to the community, and to deal with the challenges we face in health care, such as rising costs, capital demands and physician recruitment, is to work in a coordinated way," he said.
Affiliated Community Medical Centers, now part of Carris Health, has had a presence in Granite Falls since the 1990s.
Granite Falls Health and Carris Health concluded that merging their two clinic practices into one practice with the hospital "is in the best interest of Granite Falls and the surrounding communities," said Dr. Cindy Firkins Smith, co-chief executive of Carris Health.
The agreement creates one integrated local care delivery model with a goal of fostering a new health care environment and improving patient outcomes.
The consolidated clinics and hospital will provide services under the banner of Granite Falls Health. The health care providers will initially operate out of two clinic locations. Granite Falls Health will determine later what location or locations and environment will best serve the health care needs of patients and the community in the future.
